This museum is a key cultural facility and a public artistic building in Foshan City established under the joint advocate of The People's Government of Foshan City and Mr.Shi Jingyi, member of the National Political Consultative Conference,Honorary Professor of Beijing University, who is honored as "a cultural Envoy with Books" for the Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hon Wing Book co.,Ltd.It is an art museum and a public art library at the same time. It is located inside Jihua Park in the center of Foshan City, covering an area of 1,800 square meters, a total construction area of 5,000 square meters (including 1,750 square meters of usable ground floor). It has the facilities such as the exhibition hall,the reading room,the depository of art treasures, the multifunctional lecture room, the store room for paintings, stack room, the studio and the reception room. The first collections include more than 9,000 calligraphic and painting works from famous overseas and domestic masters and more than 50,000 artistic books donated by Mr.Shi Jing yi. The artchitectural style of its buildings being characterized by the school of the south of the Five Ridges and bright and sharp flavour of modern times, this museum and Jihua Park seem to merge into one integrated mass, and bring out the best in each other. It is not only an art palace for appreciating the artistic fine works from foreign and Chinese artists in ancient and modern times, but also a window for moulding people's temperament in socialist ethics.
